What happens in the first therapy session?
Your first therapy session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your goals, review confidentiality and logistics, and explore how therapy might support your needs. You’re also welcome to ask any questions to help determine if this feels like a good fit.
How long are therapy sessions?
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes long for individual, couples, and family therapy. This standard session length allows time for meaningful conversation while maintaining a focused and supportive structure. How often should I attend therapy?
Most clients begin therapy with weekly sessions, especially at the start. Over time, the frequency of sessions can be adjusted based on your goals, progress, and preferences.
Is therapy confidential in California?
Yes. Therapy is confidential and protected by California law. There are limited legal and ethical exceptions—such as concerns related to safety—which will be reviewed together so you have a clear understanding of confidentiality from the start.
How much does therapy cost in Sacramento, CA?
Fees for therapy vary based on the type of service. My standard fees are as follows:
Individual therapy: $ 175 per 50-minute session
Couples or family therapy: $ 200 per 50-minute session

Do you accept insurance for therapy?
I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
What is a Good Faith Estimate for therapy?
If you are paying privately, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected cost of therapy services. This estimate helps you understand fees in advance and avoid unexpected expenses.
